Independence Day
The early members of St. John's started Okabena's Fourth of July celebrations that continue to this day. They were grateful to be Americans. The great freedoms they enjoyed are still ours today. Chief among these freedoms is the ability to worship God according to one's conscience. How grateful we are to enjoy this wonderful liberty.
As part of the celebration, St. John's choir performed a concert at the old St. John's church building that is now located in Pioneer Village. The congregation sponsored a float in the parade and provided an ice cream social (free!) for the community, served in the church's backyard.
